What is the difference between the three brake controller activation types?

A Time Controlled Activation operates on a time-based circuitry. The longer the brake pedal is depressed, the greater amount of current delivered to the trailer brakes. With an Inertia Controlled Activation, the controller functions on its ability to sense deceleration of the tow vehicle. An internal sensor attached to an external pendulum measures the amount of deceleration and sends a proportional amount of power to the trailer brakes. With Accelerometer Activation, during braking, the controller senses deceleration of the tow vehicle. An internal sensor measures the amount of deceleration and sends a proportional amount of power to the trailer brakes. On all three types, the maximum braking supplied depends on the set up of the controller.
