What is the difference between Round bar and Trunnion style weight distribution systems?
Although aesthetically different, there are not any significant structural advantages to either system. Even though some have stated that the round bar system offers a smoother ride due to the fact that the bars are round and allow more flexibility as opposed to its rigidly square cousin. The Trunnion style hitch does offer more ground clearance (1-3" depending on manufacturer) which can be very helpful when using a tow vehicle that already is rather low to the ground. Both hitches will need to be greased in the mounting locations to decrease wear and tear on the head and bars.
