Green Card Lottery???

Hotel bars offer the best variety of people and the stories that follow them! I was recently in San Jose, Ca. Being the sociable, inquisitive person I am. I decided to have dinner at my hotel’s in-house restaurant/bar. The most interesting story I heard was from a women named Katia who emigrated from Moscow, Russia. Although she had an amazing job, traveling the world to promote her hotel chain, it was her method of immigration to the U.S. that really caught my attention. She won the lottery!
I’m not talking about the type of lottery
where you win millions of dollars. Her family won the Diversity Visa Lottery put on by the United States Government. Every year the U.S. government accepts millions of eligible applications only to give 50,000 green cards to educated and work-experienced immigrants. A smile never left Katia’s face while telling her story. She stated that there isn’t a person she knew back home that didn’t hope to move to America or Canada someday, even if they had jobs in Moscow.
Hearing her story immediately brought me a new sense of pride and gratitude for my citizenship and employment. My job at CURT Manufacturing and my lifestyle completely coincide with the American dream. I love the outdoors, and whether I’m fishing, hunting, riding ATV’s, or motorcycles, I know I am supported by an American made product and company, both physically and financially. Here is one thing I think we can all agree on, America is pretty amazing! I had a childhood teacher once say “…look around you, count all the details you overlook throughout your day. You’ve already won! You were lucky enough to be born in America!” So follow your dreams, eat apple pie, and buy CURT hitches!
